Applying Aloe Vera in Hair and on Skin is Soothing
There are several different varieties of Aloe Vera, and it can be incredibly effective when used with shampoo and body wash. The Aloe Vera in hair care, face, and body wash products selected for use by Dr. Eddie is Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice.
The Aloe Vera found in Happy Cappy Daily Shampoo and Body Wash had its plant leaves harvested at the peak of their maturity to maintain the highest levels of polysaccharides, amino acids, and minerals [1].
Aloe Vera on the face and body
Studies have shown when aloe is applied to the skin it can lead to improvements in chronic skin ulcers, burns, improved acne, improvements in psoriasis, and can even lead to dramatically better wound healing after dermabrasion [2].
A study conducted by Syed et al. involved 60 psoriasis patients who were divided into two groups. Half of them received a cream with aloe in it and the other half got a similar cream but without aloe (placebo). The study lasted 4 weeks and at the end, skin samples were even obtained (punch biopsy) on the two groups. The aloe group had a higher number of healed chronic plaques (83%) vs the placebo group (8%). Clinically the skin was improved with less shedding of skin cells and less redness and the skin samples showed similar findings microscopically. There were no adverse effects on the skin and the blood parameters remained normal as well [2].
In the dermabrasion study done by Fulton, they looked at 18 patients who got a full-face dermabrasion. They applied the standard cream used to improve healing after the procedure on one half of the face and then applied that same cream infused with aloe on the other half of the face. The aloe half of the face had less oozing and crusts sooner than the side with standard therapy, and overall wound healing was approximately 72 hours faster on the Aloe side.
