OTC is short for over-the-counter drugs. The FDA defines OTC drugs as safe and effective for use by the general public without a doctor’s prescription.
The following are examples of active ingredients in common over-the-counter drugs: acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin), simethicone (Mylicon gas drops), colloidal oatmeal (Aveeno Body Wash and Lotion), and zinc oxide (Desitin or Boudreaux’s Butt Paste).
Our OTC medicated shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis is an OTC, Over The Counter medicated shampoo that is safe enough to be purchased without a doctors prescription.
